Guest BJM Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Not mine, spotted while browsing Craigs List. BUT, I love 73's and this one looks exceptional for the price. Especially since he mentions make offer and it is one month old. $2500? $2000? It would be a fair price with a 40/60 seat but white buckets and full console! 1973 BUICK RIVIERA, BLUE, RUNS AND DRIVES. ORIGINAL CONDITION. GREAT RESTORATION CAR. CLEAR NEBRASKA TITLE. LOCATED IN GRETNA, NE AREA. $3500.00 OR MAKE AN OFFER. CALL FOUR OH TWO 949-0551. IF NO ANSWER PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE. I WORK DURING THE DAY AND WILL GET BACK TO YOU AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
Guest BJM Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 The seller called me back today and is in the military in Omaha / Bellevue area of Nebraska and this was purchased on a whim and now he is getting married and, well you might guess the rest of the story.... Anyway I think it's probably a nice one for the price and may go look at it on MLK Day.
Guest Rob J Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 If it's rust free, then it's a decent deal. Rust is the determining factor here folks.
The Continental Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Truly a shame, a '73 Riviera is a modern enough car to be used all the time, and it certainly will look and feel better than most new cars. Oh well.
jfreakofkorn Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Other than needing some interior work done, its looks like it would just need a coat of paint.
Guest BJM Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 1973's are actually my favorite boattail. Some prefer the heavy keel effect of the 71-72's but I like wrapping it up at the bumper. The 5 mph bumpers aren't visually friendly but other then that I like 1973 Buicks. I have owned a 73 Boattail and presently own 2 other 73 Buicks. They are great road cars and by this time, with the numerically low rear axle ratios (except GS's) these get decent gas mileage. It could be used as a commuter car. This one is equipped so well with the buckets and full console with the sharp contrast between dark and white seats. Very soft market is in place meaning these cars won't move fast. There is little demand.
The Continental Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I really like the 71/72 rear bumper. The front isn't that big of a deal since I really like these split bumpered in the front. I do also prefer the better compression in a 71. Personally I like these better than the earlier Rivieras and am surprised they're not more popular.
Guest kaycee Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I really don't like the boat tail style compared to the '63- '65s, but I did have "73 for a few years for a driver, and with the 455 engine it was an excellent road car for a "large" car, fast, comfortable and dependable. If it runs good and is fairly solid , I might go $2,000-$2,500, but $3,500 is'nt way out of line. It depends a lot on what your plans for the car are, to "fix" or restore it. kaycee
