Bushwack
Just an FYI regarding this eBay listing - Buick : Reatta no trim in Buick | eBay MotorsI spoke to one of the two gentlemen selling this car. Based on my conversation, unless you can physically inspect the car, I wouldn't touch this car. Seller wouldn't answer the most simple of questions (i.e. any body/paint damage or the condition of the seats). His response to most any question I had was the same (as if he was reading off a script). I believe the seller is a used car dealer. I asked him (twice) of any additional fees and he skirted the question both times. The only question he answered of mine directly was where the car is located. Per the seller, the car was a trade-in at the local Rolls-Royce dealership (find that hard to swallow but I suppose anything is possible). The dealership had the car for six months before he bought it from them.So while there may be something lost in translation (seller has a moderate accent from parts unknown), use caution. Guest steveskyhawk
Ervin and all,It doesn't surprise me the dealer in Vegas was reluctant to answer subjective questions about this car. Your first statement says it all; "unless you can physically inspect the car" is exactly the message he wanted to convey. In other words you need to come look at it.I can only imagine how many calls he has had on this car. What a pain to answer his phone. If there is anything that a dealer hates is a "tire kicker". By the way the term they actually use for people that don't buy isn't printable here.I know Ervin is a serious buyer, but that being said if I were interested in that car I would make the same call and expect no more than what Ervin received. Actually If I were really interested in that car it would make a perfect excuse to take a one way ride on SWA to Vegas. It is legal to do anything you want in Vegas as long as you dont hurt anybody else trying to have a good time. Just bring money. I had a great friend that lived there that used to say "You can't buy love, but you sure can rent it".

I had a great friend that lived there that used to say "You can't buy love, but you sure can rent it".I don't disagree with most of what you say, but here's a few points to ponder:If a seller is placing the car on eBay, such listings often close w/o the buyer inspecting the car. After all, the eBay listing is to attract a nationwide audience. Otherwise, he would have placed an ad in the local CL. As for the pain he endures answering his phone, he placed his number in the eBay listing. He is asking to be called (with questions).Driving a couple hours one-way to inspect a car vs asking piercing questions is a no-brainer. But most anyone's time is more valuable then driving a few hours one way to see a car w/o first getting some basic questions answered from a weak eBay listing (not to mention he has no history as an eBay seller). As for tire-kickers, that's part of the business. I get annoyed when people call the office and the first question is asking how much rent is on an available commercial or retail space. But that is part of my business. My first question to him was to tell me more about the car as his ad (and pictures) are vague (I'm more inclined to use the word 'shady' after speaking with him). If this guy wants to sell the car, he'll provide answers asked of him and tolerate the tire-kickers. I couldn't give a @$^& about wasting his time. I have more of what he wants then he has of what I need. With all that said, I'm not saying it's a bad car. Just that I sense the seller isn't trustworthy (or he's the personification of a car salesman). Just physically inspect the car first and ask about any hidden fees if anyone has interest. Bushwack
FWIW,...eBay pulled the listing about an hour before it was scheduled to end. I last looked at the listing 7AM this morning - it was to have ended at 10:48AM (PST). I received an e-mail from eBay at 9:55AM that they (not the seller) took off the listing (I placed an early bid on the car so I could receive e-mail updates). Sheba65
I bought the 1990 Reatta Coupe Gunmetel color with no options. The car was super clean as it looks like it was donated to Purple Heart, sold to a wholesaler who changed all the wires, hoses, battery, tires, and cleaned it up. It had a Cadillac radio in place of the orginal but this was the only none orginal part. The major thing was no a/c which I got the price down to $4000 and yes it was a dealer and I couldn't get out of the doc fee of $250. I had a new Reatta in 1989 and was lucky to find this one in fine condition. I suspect it sat in storage at some dealer in Byan, OH. Looks like the hood may have been repainted as the clear coat is not present. The rest of the paint is very good after a waxing. I put in a new door actuator, power seat switch and ordered a new antenna. I got a great driver for my 65 birthday and don't have to worry about the CRT screen. After a couple of bulbs and the antenna, I will have about $5400 and hope to drive it until I run it from 41000 miles to 100,000 miles. I am life to meet other Reatta owners in NV or S. Cal.
