3D Printing of Cars & Parts

Recommended Posts

I thought that this forum's Roger Zimmerman (Continental II scale model) would enjoy seeing this model.

The attached images are of a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 model made for the recent James Bond film, Skyfall. Since the movie script required blowing up Bond's car, three 1/3 scale models were made by 3D printing (also known as rapid prototyping) for the destruction scene. Two models were sued in the film; the third one was sold at auction.

Ford has recently developed 3D printing of metal parts as large as a transmission case.
