drwatson
Agreed, 1949 Studebaker! The hubcap tells me the model is: "Commander Regal DeLuxe". Next, looks like 49/50 Ford, then 46-48 Plymouth far back.
GK1918
I have seen those before when new but my brain is cobwebbed up. I gotta say they were aform of a Kaiser even with 49 Ford hubcap lookalikes. Kinda like a sportsman like aSportsman DeSoto.

Guest ellan vannin
Thanks for all of the info and the link to colour pictures. Would this model be a fairly common one at the time, relatively speaking?Adrienne
Leif Holmberg
I can`t remember any of those Stuebaker as a Convertible here in Sweden,so I think even in Europa and US they were quite rare. Not many Convertibles was built this year as you can see below.Leif in SwedenHowStuffWorks "1947-1949 Studebaker Commander Coupe & Convertible"

Dave Mellor NJ
This is a 47-49 Studebaker. They were first to launch their new postwar model in 47 and kept it till 50 when they made the bulletnose.
Dave Mellor NJ
The tagline on your picture says Leonard Rolfe. Is that the man?
Guest ellan vannin
The tagline on your picture says Leonard Rolfe. Is that the man? That is the name of my greatgrandfather (when he was married to my greatgrandmother and their five kids were born in England prior to his disappearance) who we originally thought was the chap in the photo.I am having difficulty finding any record of him in my family history research but have been assured he was American from Boston Massachusetts, he would have been born around 1885 and so would have been in his sixties at least when this picture was taken, this guy is no more than forty so who knows who he is. It is really interesting to have some information about the cars, despite him possibly being a random bloke!!Adrienne
