A friend of mine passed along an interesting item, a mechanical pencil engraved with Isotta Frashini. It looks to have a gold plated case and I expect it was from a writing set that may have come with a car. Or perhaps it was a promotional item. Does anybody have any information on this or know where I could go to find out?

It may be automotive, but if it is up north it may be boat or aircraft related. The logo looks like the cars from the late 20's but I don't know if the other divisions used the same one. It is very cool..... and I am sure it would sell very easy. Is it for sale? I would be interested, Ed.

Thanks for the info Ed. I didn't realize that there were boat and aircraft divisions. This pen came into my friends possession about 30 years ago. The fellow who gave it to him said his Dad had had an Isotta Fraschini some years prior to that. Unfortunately all these years later, it's too late to find out any more info on the car, when and where he owned it and what happened to it. I'm in Vancouver BC and I can't ever remember one being around locally. Once we can determine a value for the pen it will be for sale.

I see you have an amazing collection of cars. 14 Cad with only 7000 miles! WOW. My interest is primarily in the brass era cars but I don't have anything quite so spectacular.

There is a Floyd Clymer reprint of an Post WWII Isotta-Fraschini sales brochure on eBay now. I wonder if that pen is from that era? You need a pen collector to help date the pen. Bob

Thanks for all the help. Ben and Fred I went to the link and had a great time reading about these amazing cars. Makes my 35 Packard 120 look slightly inadequate! Oh well...

I also emailed Malcolm so we'll see what happens.
