lostcause
Any ideas? I found this in my father's photos. My guess is late 20's early 30's.
keiser31
Looks to be about a 1931 Chevrolet with newer headlamps and wheels.
lostcause
I think you nailed it! I checked google images and it looks like a 31 Chevy. Thanks.
lostcause
OK, now for the really tough part, name the car parked behind the 31 Chevy!
Curti
47-48 Merc
lostcause
Hmm, not sure about that. How about a late 50's Volvo???
Guest Commodore
I'd say it's a Mercury based on this photo.
Fleek
I agree with curti. 47 - 48 Mercury with foglight mounted in front of the grille. I do not remember Volvo having trim on top of the fenders or having a grille split in to lower and upper sections..
lostcause
Yes, you guys are right but in my defense a 58 Volvo sure looks like a 48 Merc!
Fleek
I always thought the 50's Volvos were patterned after the mid 40's Fords too. Very similar shape. I had an old Volvo from that era at one time and it always reminded me of an older Ford product.
Dave@Moon
I agree with curti. 47 - 48 Mercury with foglight mounted in front of the grille. Being a Mercury it might be a little unusual, but I suspect that that isn't a foglight but instead is a police car's flashing red light. The lens is a little dark for a yellow foglight, what you can see of the car is black, and it's parked awfully close to the Chevy pinning it by the pole. Is it possible that this was the Chevy's last mortal day, having reached the end of the road?
Fleek
Interesting observation, Dave. You may be right. Guess we will never know for sure.
Woodfiddler
Ok you folks - I'm loosing faith. Did anybody consider this one?No faith actually lost! Chuck
Fleek
Close, but I am sticking with Merc. The Nash has no trim on top of the fenders or the small grille under the top one. Interesting comparison and neat car.
keiser31
It's a Mercury.
