Guest Rob McDonald
As I stripped everything off my spare dashboard yesterday ('57 Roadmaster), I noticed a vertical splice joint between the radio and clock openings. It runs top to bottom, about halfway across the glovebox. Apparently the driver's side of the dashboard panel is the same for all series, while the passenger side is longer on the senior series cars - Roadmasters and Supers - than on the juniors - Centurys and Specials.Weren't those designers just so clever? And aren't I clever, finally figuring out how to add notes to photos!

Guest Rob McDonald
LAMAR, you are very kind to reply. There's nothing lonelier than an unacknowledged thread, no matter how obscure. Obscurity is this forum's lifeblood!

Guest Rob McDonald
"...that isss not ma daug." Yes, Cato, one can extrapolate, then, that all the wiring, instruments, and trim for the driver's side of the dash are universal. The top cover and the "engine-turned" trim panel are the only bolt-ons that vary between the dashboards of series 40/60 ("little") and series 50/70 (big) Buicks for 1957.I do have spares of all that, including a nice, driver-quality engine-turned trim panel (senior series), instrument cluster, switches, clock, and Sonomatic radio. Not the top cover, though. Someday I'll get around to posting this stuff on Buick - Buy/Sell. Meanwhile, Buick friends, please let me know if you need any of this - you can have it for the cost of shipping.
1957buickjim
Yes, Inspector, but that would also make the glove box door different, wouldn't it? Or perhaps the adjusted the opening to accomodate the single size glove box door and fiberglass box..hmmmmm
Guest Rob McDonald
I'm guessing the glove boxes are all the same width and that the width of the passenger side panel varies, between the right side of the opening and the end of the dash. However, please confirm: are there four cup rings on the Special door or just three? Maybe the cup count matches the porthole count in defining pecking order. Please excuse the dust, I wasn't expecting company. 1957buickjim
Well, well Inspector Clueseau, you are right again, almost! The 40/60, junior as you say, series also has 4 cup holder indents in the glove box door, so you assessment of the glove box is correct. They are all the same!! All glove boxes and doors will fit all models. Buick Engineering at it's best..
