West Peterson
Tis. We've been running a series of articles on Barney Pollard, written by his grandson, Jim Dillon. Part 5 appears in the January issue.
keiser31
Looks a lot like a barrel hood Franklin to me.
CarlLaFong
If memory serves, I think that pic is from the article in Popular Mechanics, Mechanics Illustrated or one of the DIY mags. I believe the article said it was a Lambert
West Peterson
That's what Dillon called it, too. But it doesn't look like a Lambert to me. I'll continue to investigate that name, tho.As for Franklin, its crank doesn't go through the grille, like on the car i posted. Thanks for the input. West Peterson
1907 Lambert it is. One of three made according to the Reynolds Museum in Canada. The same car. Reynolds purchased many, many cars out of the Pollard collection, to build the largest transportation museum in Canada. I feel bad for doubting Mr. Dillon's description, but I try to double check items about which I'm not sure, and none of the sources I have showed that model of Lambert. With only three built, I now understand why.Treasures From the Museum Warehouse... | Flickr - Photo Sharing! Steve_Mack_CT
FWIW the fact checking is a good thing, West. I just started back up on a book I have by Menno Duerkson (sp?? not handy right now..) written in the early 70s - still a big fan but time has shown some of his points to be innacurate. Besides good reading, it is nice to know the Antique Automobile is as factual as possible.
