Guest Raydion Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) Have to sell as I can't afford to store or restore at this time. Sold Today, Dec 30 2012 Edited December 31, 2012 by Raydion Sold (see edit history)
ghostymosty Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 I would be interested but the car seems to be too much of a project at that pricepoint for me since I have to pay a mechanic for most work the car would need. Sitting for 5 years suggests that items containing the fluids would also need some work or replacement. Have you moved the car around on its own power during that time? People here like pics, any of the engine compartment, paint that is not wet, dash, soft top? How did the rear seatbelts get mounted to the car?
Guest Raydion Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Yes, I just drove it a very short distance last week. I could tell the power steering and perhaps the brake fluids were low. It ran fine, but I should probably drive around the block a few times.

It was, as I understand, supposed to be a 2+2 but there were crash test certification issues that caused the change. It also explains the wheel well in the trunk (which is where the spare is now.)I can post more photos, but if you are local you might want to just take a look.Mechanical issues: A/C doesn't work as the centrifugal clutch is frozen, ABS was replaced with hydroboost as I got tired of fixing it but all the wiring is still in place so it could be restored, electric motor to tighten the top is busted so manual release only, brake lights short out which is probably the wires inside the convertible top compartment grounding out.Basically, I priced it at what I thought the more valuable parts might be worth without regard to how much anyone would have to spend to fix it, but I am considering all offers.I'll add more photos when I can to ebay and to Craigslist (Los Angeles)
Guest Raydion Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 (edited) ebay item # 271128112570 Sorry I can't show the soft top right now, but it was in great shape last time it was up (about 5 years ago) Auction starting price is $1000. Negotiable. Edited December 26, 2012 by Raydion (see edit history)
Guest Raydion Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 What would be a reasonable price? Interested in your opinion even if you don't buy. Thanks
ghostymosty Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 The brake change to hydroboost frankly scares me so my valuation is just as a parts car. I don't have a place to put a parts car and my red TC broke my heart when I parted it out so I wouldn't want to do that to another one. That being said, I would put the value of the car at between $500 and $800 as a whole car but if you took the time and labor to remove and sell parts it would be closer to $1500 plus another $200 if the soft top is nice and still has its glass window. Parts prices were higher when I parted mine out and I got around $2000 after a couple years of selling a few parts at a time, gave away most interior pieces, and have a couple of things still taking up space. There are people on this list who have asked how to change the brake system from Teves to non-abs master cylinder and I'm surprised none of them have chimed in.
