MYSTERY ORNAMENT

Recommended Posts

Found this years ago in a Mopar dealership. It may not be for a Mopar product. Any ideas what it's for?

3 1/8 inches long 1.5 inches at it's widest

cast on the back: Fox Company Cincinnati Ohio

Thanks!

For some reason I am thinking it may be for a Chrysler or DeSoto Airflow grille emblem maybe? I have seen that part before....just cannot remember exactly on what.

Oh....here we go.....Airflow. Shaped different, but same design. This is a '34.

New research of mine shows it to be for a 1935 Chrysler Airstream front emblem backing as far as I can tell.

looking more closely at the one pictured and mine I noticed some differences: mine has no curvature at the top end and at that end (my picture at the far right end) it is not shaped the same as the one in the other picture. Possibly another model that year?

Could be. I am not that familiar with the 1935 or 1936 Chryslers. I just saw that it looked like a close match. The one I show above is the Chrysler Airflow item which I know is different. The Airstream, however looks more like yours from what I saw on Google.

1935 Chrysler Airstream. Here it is on the car in relationship to the hood ornament.

I just went out to my garage and look on my own hood ornament, and there is some dents after an ornament like this.

Do you want to sell it?
