Guest monkmonkey
This picture I found on the internet. This is a 1930 Chrysler 70 engine. Can someone tell me what paint code of blue this would be? And should the engine and body colors match? keiser31
No the body color should not match the engine color. The '30 Chrysler engine was more of a green than blue. I will try to get the code for the paint for you. Edited December 16, 2012 by keiser31 (see edit history)
Curti
I will start by stating that I know nothing about MoPar restorations. We have done considerable research of Auburn engines and how they were painted at the factory. The conclusion we have arrived at from old factory line photos ( black and white) and original unmolested engines; when the factory painted the blocks there was a plate bolted to the block in place of the cylinder head. The oil pan, water side plate covers, tappet covers, oil filler tube, dipsitck and a few other ancillaries were on the engine when painted. That means the bolt heads, gasket edges all got painted. The main reason for this is that no contaminates would be sprayed into the engine. That means that all of the detail that restores love, isn't actually the way it came from the factory. Food for thought.

Food for thought.Yes....I was showing the color of the engine, not the correctness of the painted areas. Thanks for that because it gets past some of us. On the early Chrysler Corporation engines, some cylinder heads were painted silver (Silverdome) and some were painted red (Redhead).
Guest monkmonkey
I see some original paint on the engine and tranny. Its a light sky blue/green color. Did they come from the factory in either greenish or light blue? Anyone know the paint code for the baby blue color? Here is the engine with some original paint still on it:
