HELP ID this 1902-05 engine & trans,2 cylinder. Show your friends

Hello everyone. I am considering the purchase of this neat 2 cylinder motor with atmospheric inlet valves and what appears to be a shaft drive planetary transmission. Notice the letter R and S on the pedals in the last photo. No names,serial numbers,etc. But it says New York Gear on the back of the trans. Probably a 1902-05 motor. Its a small 6-8 HP engine. Appears to mount in the front of the car,and to hook up to a shaft drive rear. It is NOT Autocar,Pierce Arrow,Peerless,or Stevens Duryea. Your thoughts are truly appreciated! Thanks for the tip! I already read that. That is a history on the N.Y. Gear Works Co. which is the name on the trans with the motor. Mr. Ball patented this type of trans. and sold several "Ball" automobiles. However no Ball cars used a motor like htis one,not even close. Thanks,George

That looks like the engine that was in the Chocolate field annex early at Hershey. A fairly nicely made engine but I had no idea what it was. The owner said he had had it for 20?? years and was told it was a Dumont by the old owner. He had an advertisement from a Santos-Dumont displayed with it. The engine seemed to go fairly early in the show and I saw it at a new owner's spot and I looked it over again. Then it was at Lang's and it seemed to disappear from there also, too I presumed, a new owner. A nice engine if anybody could identify it and use it.

I saw the same engine at Lang's when I bought the 1 cylinder Reo stuff. Don bought it merely for the very early carburetor that was on it...

Thanks Ben for the lead and Frank the info. I checked our Santos Dumont in the Clark/Kimes book. Not even close. The Santos Dumont 2 cylinder model was turned sideways under the front seat,and rear was chain driven. This motor mounts on the front of the car and is cranked from the front,and trans goes to a shaft drive rear axle. Thanks for digging! George
