1930 Studebaker Commander Streering Wheel Levers

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I am in the process of looking into having some spark, light, and throttle levers cast in brass for my 1930 Commander FD. I've found a local foundry here in Chicago which is able to do small order casting and I wondering if anyone needs additional copies of these levers. I'm not sure if there's a discount for bulk orders, but I just wanted to throw it out there to see if there's any intrest. Let me know.

Thanks.

Here is a picture of the last set I bought in 2008 from a guy in Spokane, WA. [steve Munts; Custom Antique Parts, 4903 S. Mohawk Dr; Spokane, WA 99206 www.srmunts@mindspring.com] Also if your levers are crumbling the 456007 cluster base may need to be replaced also, it gets brazed to the end of the steering column center tube and supports the complete lever set. Don't know if Steve still does these parts?

Steve Munts has sold his business a couple of years ago and is no longer making Studebaker parts. I have been told that someone in Missouri bought Steve out.

Anyone knows ,who bought Steve Munts out?

Things are changing in the supply chain

Bill Cathcart sold his inventory to who?

Bill Fennessy sold to Ed Reynolds.

Lionel Stone sold his supercharger stash to John Erb

Lionel sold his other stuff to John Mc.Call.

Stephan Allen sold to Studebaker West.

I believe that Richard Blomquist in Wisconsin still makes the steering wheel levers for Studebakers.

Send me a PM for his info or google "White Glove Colection"

He makes and sells inside door handles also.

Yep, he sells them! I bought a set some years ago and they look very nice to me, what I'm still looking for is the brown vover plate (bakalite?) for at least 4 of my cars, anyone knows? Any ideas please, I'm sure there are more people looking!

Happy holidays to you all!

Carine

Just as an FYI, Steve Munts is apparently back in business. His website is www.customantiqueparts.com. He got back to me with a quote of $235.95 for the lever set, and $96.65 for the lever base plate. Being new to this, I don’t really have anything to compare this quote to. Does this seem like a reasonable amount?
