Need a switch pitch solenoid for 65 Super Turbine 400

I have good 12v to the horizontal plug at the trans, no click from the solenoid, and my micro switch is working great. The kick down works fine. So its either a bad connection inside the trans or a bad solenoid. Where can I buy a new solenoid if I end up needing one?

Thanks for any help locating the part.

Rob, one thing to try before you replace it. Remove the trans pan, and follow the solenoid wire. See if it is somehow pinched, and shorting out. When I had my tranny rebuilt this past summer by Aamco, I noticed the wire was pinched upon teardown. Worth a look. HTH, Rob.

Hey Rob,

I hooked my stator detent switch up and I got lucky! When I push the button, I can hear the solenoid click. Does anyone have a nice, clear close-up picture of how that switch gets mounted on the linkage? I can't seem to figure out how it will be activated on throttle position change.

Thanks,

Peter

Peter,

Chk these shots out, may help you, mine is the 2-4 set up but this part of the hook up should be the same for you. I got lucky, mine started working fine after I drove the car and hasn't missed a beat since, Ive been chking it often.

On my OP: I Emailed Jim @ tri shield perf and he said he can repair for the solenoids and has very good luck with them.

To adjust the service manual makes easy work and understanding of it.

O.K, just finished the installation. It makes perfect sense now. I wasn't sure how the switch would be de-activated when the accelerator was pushed. There is actually some play in the linkage connection that allows the switch to release.

Working perfectly now!

If you are still looking for this switch, I have one for sale. Also a lot of other Nailhead parts for 401/425 engines 64 to 66.
