Guest BigdaddyBuick
Howdy Folks, My name is Johnny I am from So Cal and Currently the Owner of a 1960 Invicta Convertible. I am the 3rd owner of this car and it only has 55,000 Original miles. I am restoring this car to its Original Beauty with the exception of a 2 inch static drop and skylark Wires. I have had many vehicles. Kustoms, Hot Rods, Wagons, Trucks etc. I am in the middle of replacing the rockers that were pretty bad. I have the Chassis & Service Manual however I am looking for some pictures or drawings of the sheet metal which would show the bracing in the rear behind the door. Mine is there but rusted pretty bad and we want to make sure this car is done correct. All the Rockers are being hand fabricated. I was told to post here for more response. Someone also mentioned to me to get the Fisher Body Manual for 1960, however, I know Buick had their own Fisher Manual for 1960. Does anyone have one they can check for me? Guest shorttimer
Welcome, Johnny. I have several pictures of the inner panel on a '60 coupe that may be of use to you. Here are a few at 1024 x 768. If you want to PM me with an email address, I can send high-res copies of these and some others out to you later this week. And if you need photographs of anything specific on a 60 Buick, please let me know and I'll try to help you out if I can.Good luck with your project and I'm sure many here would like to hear more about it. I think that the piece I am speaking about is part of the Convertible structure that comes down to the rocker. I have attached a pic so you can see what I am speaking of. Pardon the crappy paint edit. The edited one I put what direction I think that bend goes in.
Guest shorttimer
Shorttimer ,Thank you for the response. I think that the piece I am speaking about is part of the Convertible structure that comes down to the rocker.OK, that brace is actually visible in the first two pictures attached to my previous post. Those pictures are of the brace on the Driver's side.I have attached a pic so you can see what I am speaking of. Pardon the crappy paint edit. The edited one I put what direction I think that bend goes in.You are correct. The following is a picture of the brace in question on the passenger side. The brace does not extend very far forward within the panel. The picture below is of the front end of that brace looking rearward towards the end of the rocker box. I just happened to take this picture through the quarter window mechanism access hole when I had my car apart to replace the side moulding earlier in the year. I don't have the car apart any more, so unfortunately I can't give you precise measurements on the brace itself. On a somewhat related note, the accumulation of the dirt and debris visible in the picture above is one of the reasons why these cars frequently develop rust in this area. I hope these pictures are helpful, and if you need any exterior measurements, etc., I would be happy to help.

Guest shorttimer
Shortimer,Thank you so much this helped a lot. Where did you get your new trim clips at? Where in So Cal are you?Glad they were useful. I was fortunate in that the clips were still there under the aftermarket trim that had been installed on my car with pop rivets in the 1970s. My Invicta convert and I are in Orange County. I have a picture or two of the car in my gallery, but can take more if you need something specific. If I can be of help with your project just let me know. I think I've seen pictures of your car online before. Its good to know that of the dozen or so of the bucket seat converts known to still exist, there are two located within 20-30 miles of one another. Maybe we'll get them together one day to compare notes? Edited December 4, 2012 by shorttimer (see edit history)
