Guest shadetree77 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 I was watching the new movie "Expendables 2" and I spotted this ad. I can't tell what car is on it. When zoomed in the big words appear to read "The Better Light Car" with the year 1947 on the right. It might even say "The Better Eight Car". I can't read the words on the bottom. Can anybody tell what kind of car it is? Here's a screen capture from the movie.
Dave@Moon Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 That certainly looks to be a 1947 Oldsmobile, but I don't think that's an original ad. As best I can tell Olds never used that slogan. In 1947 their slogan was "It's smart to own an Olds."
Woodfiddler Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 I want to guess that the word Studebaker is the longer word in the bottom text. Maybe a Champion or Commander 4 door? I t doesn't look right but maybe they modified the ad to keep us guessing and them out of court?!Chuck
Rusty_OToole Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Looks like a picture of a 47 Olds with the slogan The Better Light Car. Appears to be a fake ad on a cloth banner, used to cover up some modern feature on the building.I bet Pepsi Cola paid them for putting their ad up there.
