JayG
I have a set of 24" wheels that I've been told are 3rd type Kelsey that would fit 1917 - 1921 Dodge Brothers. They are in very good condition with only 2 places that some spoke splintering is occurring. If they are to be painted this could be glued and filled very easily and then painted. Structurally they are solid wheels. The rears are missing the outer hub. They include the rims and all of the Kelsey lugs.I'm looking to sell or trade for a set of 21" for my 1925 roadster. They're located in CT . Can send closeup pics to anyone interested. Asking $400 for the set.

What would the shipping rates be to Australia? Could you send a close up pic of the wheels? Thanks. Frank

72caddy
I have one 21 wood spoke center with metal fellow and maybe a couple of useable split rims (need to verify this). Let me know if you would like some photos

Guest John1918
Are you sure they are 24"? They look like 25" immediately after the wooden felloe wheels changed to steel in 1918. Your rear wheels are not boss-bolted and the front wheels have 6 hub bolts instead of 8.
72caddy
JayG, my memory is going. I have a 20" center and fellow an two split rims for that same size. Pictures attached.
JayG
John - I had posted another thread asking if the wheels could be identified and I was told they were 17-21's. In looking at some internet pictures and your comment I'm thinking they may be late 18-21 as they do have the 8 hub bolts in the front and it looks like earlier ones had 6. They were identified as Kelsey type 3. The diameter of the fellows is 24 inches. I don't know what you mean by boss bolted. Can you explain? Thanks for any info. Guest John1918
This photo is a 24" boss-bolted rear wheel, first used around May 8th 1921. From my book, it is a 3rd Kelsey, your 6 bolted front hubs ended in June 10th 1920 with car 490,413 and would be 25", 2nd Kelsey.
JayG
John - Great information. I'd like to know what book you have. My 25 roadster has 23inch wheels on it and I'd like to find out what they are and what should be on mine. My car is A169xxx which is an early 25 (Aug).Anyway it looks like we're narrowing down the wheels above as 1918 to 1920. Why are they 25 inch wheels if the fellows measure 24? I'm new to wood wheels and am learning as I go. Thanks!
Guest John1918
Measure the wheel diameter across the inside flat part of the rim where the tyre sits i.e. inside diameter of the tyre. Cars were 24" 3rd Kelsey till car A207,373 cNov 2nd 1924, your car would be about Aug 23 1924. My book is Dodge Master Parts List 1927. JayG
John - You've been a great help. Based on the information that you've provided the wheels that I have for sale in this thread are 25" 2nd series Kelsey's and would be found on 1918 to 1920 vehicles. The wheels that are on my roadster appear to be the correct ones. They are 24" with the boss-bolted rears. I guess that would make them 3rd series Kelsey's and correct for my vehicle number. I was led to believe that 21" would be correct for a 25 but now I can stop my search for a set of 21's.Thanks again. Jay
