Assuming that is a Special the hood would be just over 4' long. (Says the man who makes the hood strips for 37/38's :-))

A few years ago I had a '66 GS 2 dr post.

I was told by someone that if you had a GS you automatically had a convertable frame that was stronger then the regular frame, just for this reason.

I am not sure if the emblem on the grill is a GS emblem or not.

Maybe one of the Skylark members can shed some light on this.

The GS was built on the convertible frame in those years.  That's still quite a twist as shown in this particular picture.  Looking at the front bumper though I doubt the driver cares that much if the doors work right, as long as they still work. 

 

My 69 GS Conv is very solid but put it on a lift and it will bend enough that the interior lights come on.  Back on all 4 tires they go off.
