Bushwack
Does anyone know the part number for a vehicle speed sensor for a 1990 Reatta? I've found sites for a VSS with price ranging from $32 - $160 and while they say it is for a 1990, the part numbers are different. Thanks.
Blue90
I believe the part number for a 1990 wheel speed sensor is 3521 271.
Guest Mc_Reatta
R U talking vehicle speed sensor in tranny, or wheel speed sensor? And if wheel sensor, which wheel?
Ronnie
I have added the vehicle speed sensor for 1989-90 models to The Reatta Store. Look in the Computers & Sensors category on the last page.

Probably the speed sensor for the transmission.

PN for vehicle sensor is 8661914As discussed in another thread, symptom is the car will stay at a high idle (1500-1700RPM) in neutral or in gear (but not Park) from a cold start until two minutes after the engine reaches temperature (195*). Tried the obvious (and not so obvious) possibilities to no avail. VSS may be next to replace. As for the purpose of the VSS, once the data goes to the ECM/BCM, I assume before it goes to the IP it delivers data to various other parts of the car so they can function as designed, correct? Or is the VSS sole purpose to communicate with the IP via the ECM?
Guest Mc_Reatta
Save your money. VSS input doesn't factor into idle speed. It sends signal to the BCM witch uses it for cruise control purposes etc, and processes the signal and passes it to the ECM which uses it for TCC solenoid, EGR operation, etc, but not for controlling idle speed. ECC passes it to the IPC for speedometer.Besides if it were faulty, your speedometer display on the IPC would be funky as well as your idle speed if they were correlated.
