waltmail
I want to replace the pads on the '89. I saw the compression tool for sale on your site and the tutorial. I may be dumb, because I don't understand the explanation of how to use the tool. Thanks in advance. How To Retract The Rear Brake Caliper Piston - Reatta Owners Journal
Ronnie
Walt, when you remove the pads you will be able to see the end of the caliper piston that was pushing on the pad. The piston will have two places in it that two of the tangs on the tool will fit into. (the tangs are the part on the corners that project out) The tool is designed so it can be turned many different ways to fit the pistons on different vehicles. Once you have the tool turned the correct way so the tangs fit into the end of the piston, you insert a ratchet extension into the square hole on the other end of the tool. This will allow you to turn the piston so it will screw back down on the adjuster screw shown in Barney's photo in the tutorial. That will move the piston back into the caliper enough that you will have room to install new pads.I hope this helps. Feel free to ask if you have more questions. waltmail
Thanks Ronnie. I'll order one of the tools off of your site. Looks like it will take 5 days for shipping. Ronnie
Sorry but I don't have an estimate on shipping time. It is a small item that will probably be shipped by USPS Priority Mail.

Didn't realize it was an Amazon purchase before asking. 5 days. Thanks. Looks like it might be a universal tool and can be used for many applications. Ronnie
That tool can save you some time when you are doing the rear brakes. Thank you for going to The Reatta Store when you need something for your Reatta.
