Guest shadetree77 Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) I'm not seeing a spline seal anywhere. It's supposed to consist of a spring and a bunch of round seals and caps. Am I overlooking something here or is this thing really gone? Is it pressed down inside the torque tube and I'm not seeing it maybe? Edited October 25, 2012 by shadetree77 (see edit history)
Guest Straight eight Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 As you look down the driveshaft, looking at the driveshaft, what is that on the splines? Sure looks like the seal you are looking for.
avgwarhawk Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) Picture #2 looks like the spring is right behind the seal. I see the spring. See the seal in the diagram. It has "teeth" that fit the splines. It's there.I circled in pic #2 were the spring and seal are. I circled the "teeth" that fits the spline. Edited October 25, 2012 by avgwarhawk (see edit history)
Guest shadetree77 Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Thanks for the help guys. Apparently I was looking so hard I didn't see it right in front of my face! The "teeth" on the seal were so closely fitted to the grooves in the shaft it looked like it was actually part of the shaft. I poked around on it with a tiny screwdriver and realized part of what I was looking at was made of rubber. After I peeled that out of there everything popped out. Good thing it wasn't a snake huh?
