Six Buick's ('36-'83) for sale

Guest Dabber

Recommended Posts

I have six old Buick's I need to sell. I have a '36 or '37 model. A '55 Buick Century Special, either a '61 or '65 Invicta, a '66 Electra, a '68 Electra two-door and an '83 LeSabre. None of them run but most are in decent shape. I'm in Arkansas. I'd post pictures but they are too large here. Perhaps I could send them another way if anyone would be interested.

Pictures must be 2000x2000 or less. Best to shrink them a bit more because there is a file size limitation too. Not sure what that is. Try shrinking them down to around 1200. If that doesn't work you are more than welcome to send them to my email (trailr123@yahoo.com) and I can shrink them and post them here for you. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone for your interest in my cars. I'm sorry but the photographs I have of them are too large for me to post here. However, I would be happy to email them to anyone interested in seeing my six Buick's. My email address is: roberthustonoutdoors@cox.net I really don't know much about cars but a friend of mine in Oklahoma, who collects Buick's, suggested I reach out to enthusiasts on this site. I would appreciate any input regarding their worth.

Dabber, where in Arkansas? It is a ';37, a '61, a '55 Special. That '37 sloper is not seen much. As well as the '55 with radio and clock delete .

Ben

I agree with Ben. The 1st thing I noticed was the slope back version of this car. Somewhat rare, rarer then trunkbacks.

Thank you Pete for the information. Is there anywhere I can determine their worth?

I have some bad news for you on worth. Remember, this is my opinion, but I spend about 20 hours a week on old car market research and personally buy and sell 10-15 cars a year.

Full on projects are now seldom being purchased for restoration projects. They all should be decent parts cars. The 4 door models - if I have them right that would be the 1961 Invicta, the 65(?) Electra are no more then $1000 cars, probably less. Remember crusher price is $400 or so.

The 37 - although rare - these are hard to find parts for and expensive to restore. I would estimate that car as a $1000 car. The 55 2 door Special with stick-some guys are looking for that set up and an ebay auction might yield $750 to $1200.

Keep in mind also, that high transport costs factor into someones decision to purchase. I am in Iowa, probably within 800 miles of you, but it would add $1000 or more to bring one car up here. So your buying audience is smaller and is probably someone that can grab a trailer and a truck and do it themselves.

Keep us updated, and keep in mind I am only trying to help in pricing. Others may feel differently.

I took a closer look at your cars and you have a story for sure. How did you come to collect these cars? By the look of the tires, they have been there awhile yet many show good seats, dashes and trim. And they are - more or less - sequentially parked by age. 37, 55, 61, 66, 69 and 83.

The 61 Invicta has A/C, still not an every day option for a mid price range Buick in 1961. The 66 Electra appears to have leather. Virtually all 66 Electra 4 doors had clothe and vinyl seats. so that strikes me as unusual.

I have always been a fan of the 69 Electra 2 doors and again your car's dash and seats look pretty nice for a long parked car.

Thanks again for posting--

Well, again, thank you for the information. I'm looking to sell all of them. All of these cars were my Mother and Dad's cars. I'm having to sell them to pay for my mother's continuing health care. It is killing me to have to consider selling so many pieces of my childhood but I have to do, what I have to do. I guess I should mention that for collectors in Arkansas, I have brand new, still in the original boxes, stamped state license plates from the 1950's. All of them still have the tissue paper between them. If anyone would be interested.

Even I have been looking at and considering that '55 3 speed 2 door sedan. Those are some rare and very desirable cars. I think the higher figure of $1200 would be a very fair price for the seller and buyer. If it was a 54 I'd offer that just from the pictures I've seen and wouldn't even bother popping the hood or trunk before paying the man and loading it. In fact I'm currently working on a deal on one up around Kansas City that will take lots more work than this 55 will take to enjoy. Not to mention the cost of going after. Anybody needing something hauled from down south to Kansas City and want help out with gas, give me a holler.

I agree with Jake on the values. Some of these cars look like they may have fairly low mileage, based on lack of upholstery wear on some and not much foot pedal wear on the '55. Nevertheless, they probably all have stuck engines and some are sitting on the ground which makes you wonder if the frames and floors are rusted. They are only deteriorating more as they sit, so selling them for parts or restoration might help save them if the prices are reasonable. It is very expensive to restore cars, especially ones that are in bad shape.
