cobravii
hi,I am restoring a 1964 Electra convertible. I have already replaced the rocker panels, the rust holes above the rear wheels and have cut out the lower 1/4's. I also need to replace the mounts behind the rear wheels. I have purchased the lower pieces (cages if you will) that the mount bolt screws into as well as the metal above that (inside the trunk). I still have the body on the frame. There is a rust hole in the trunk right above the said mounts. What is the best way to replace these pieces? I am almost thinking of welding the new lower "cage" to the new upper sheet metal and then cutting out the trunk and butt welding the assembly into place but I'm not sure.I the other option I am considering is grinding out the old "cage" and welding in the new one and then cutting out and patching the rust hole above it. The problem with this is that it is real tight to get in there.I could sure use some experienced tipsThanks for any help.Larry
