Chadwell
On my '90 coupe the rear window defogger does not work and the light on the ECC panel does not come on. I ran a diagnostic test, and it didn't show any codes being set. According to the service manual, when no codes are set you should be able to exit the diagnostics by pressing the rear defogger button on the ECC and if not, it indicates a bad ECC panel. Needless to say, I could not exit the diagnosis by this method. I would like to know if the ECC can be removed and repaired or does it have to be replaced. I would appreciate any help or advice. Guest Corvanti
hi. check out this thread, especially post #12: http://forums.aaca.org/f116/rear-defrost-does-not-work-331016.htmlfrom that info, i think i'd check fuse#12 first, then the wiring to/and the switch. then go from there...hope this helps! Guest Mc_Reatta
I think your problem is with a dirty climate control programmer switch panel. Hence neither defroster nor diagnostic exit request responding correctly.Go here to learn how to clean the panel:How To Clean 1990 Climate Control Panel - Reatta Owners Journal
NCReatta
I've cleaned climate control units with success before. Though the fix only lasts about 3 weeks and it's back doing the same thing. The best thing to do is probably just replace the unit. I have excellent condition tested used units with a 90 day warranty available if cleaning doesn't fix your problem. Chadwell
I removed the ECC and cleaned it according to the link provided by Mc_Reatta, and it seems to be working fine at the present time. If the fix doesn't last I'll replace the unit. Can anyone shed some light on what I should expect to pay for a replacement? Thanks for all the help. Guest Mc_Reatta
Glad it helped, but I only pointed you in the right direction. Information was provided by Barney Eaton with courteous storage and access provided by Ronnie.
