Paul Falabella Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 Found this in the bottom of the drivers door changing the glass, 55 Roadmaster. It is petrified rubber, may not be the whole thing. Anyone know where it came from, what it is?
JohnD1956 Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 I'll suggest it is part of a noise reducer for one of the window channels or under your vent window mechanism.
old-tank Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 It was installed in the lower glass retaining channel oriented towards the outer door skin...probably used to deflect water that ran down the glass to the front or back so that it did not get on the window lift mechanism or locking parts.
Paul Falabella Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) That is it.Listed as Weatherstrip, front door window lower sash. Haven't seen this piece listed anywhere and not planning on driving in a Cat II or better. Will leave it off and increase the gas mileage. Edited October 15, 2012 by Paul Falabella (see edit history)
Mudbone Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I found them at Danchuck (55-57 Chevy parts) Part # 843. They are fairly inexpensive. Just don't tell them it is going on a Buick. Mud
1957buickjim Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 That's right, because they would charge you double!!
Paul Falabella Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 Nice alternative for parts. Anyone use the "glass metal channel" part # 1012-1022? I reused the ones in my doors(some rust) but had I seen these I would have picked them up. Guess I'd have to call for a part number cross reference.
