375/400 Transmission buildup

I currently have a 375 transmission behind my 72 455. I went to a cruise today and a guy confronted me and started talking to me about my car. He claimed to have rebuilt a 400 tranny, and instead of using the 400 valve body, he used a 375 valve body. He claims it changed gears so quickly it would chirp the tires in all 3 gears. I was wondering if anyone else has tried this, or even know whether it would work or not. If anyone has, i'd like some more information and how well it performed.
Kyle
-------
1972 Skylark 455

Sounds like he installed a shift kit in his transmission. To make it shift hard you only have to move one check ball and drill out an oil passage. If you drill out the hole really big it will shift really hard.

How long would you estimate it to last? Put it this way, how much punishment would that transmission take if you had it shift that hard? Would it really be that beneficial?
