I have for sale a 1952 straight 8 Buick manifold. In good condition' date=' no evidence of cracks. Carb was a 2 bbl Stromberg (already sold) I have pictures. Car also has what looks to be a real nice rocker shaft assembly and what I believe to be a rebuildable head. I have not yet pulled them. Asking $300 negotiable.

The exhaust manifold for the Super and Special series will fit 248 and 263 engines, so the exhaust manifold from a 1952 Special or Super will fit a 1940 Super. However, the intake manifolds are different. The 248 engines had a carburetor mounting with 3 bolts whereas the 263 engines had a carburetor mounting with 4 bolts. The valve bodies (hot box) are interchangeable.

There is another difference in the 248 and 263 intake mainfolds and that concerns the air cleaner mounting. The 248 manifold has a hole near the front to pass the long bolt for mounting the air filter element whereas on the 263 the air filter assembly crosses over the valve cover to the passenger side of the engine. The 263 intake manifold does not have the air cleaner mounting hole.

The intake on my manifold assembly has 4 studs to mount the carb. The air cleaner assembly I sold last year crossed over the valve cover from one side of the engine to the other. There is a bracket tacked to the top of the valve cover to rest it on. I cannot remember where the bolt was. I have pictures of the engine that I can send someone stored on my cell phone. If you want to see the actual engine in the car you can. Today I pulled the head, rocker shaft assembly, distributor (Delco Remy 1110832 2E1 on the tag, the valve cover and the horns from in front of the radiator. When I pulled the head off nice green antifreeze poured out of the head, I was surprised. Rocker assembly is real nice and I also pulled all the pushrods too. I took all the head bolts and hardware as well. The thing had about 20 head bolts and weighed a ton!!!!

If someone wants a view of the motor just PM me with your email address. I am going on a short business trip and will not be home until late Saturday or early Sunday so I will not have much email access.
