Guest
Hey guys - Any idea what is causing my clunking noises? The noise seems to be coming from the tranny area. Almost every time i let off the gas all you here is CLUNK and its really starting to [censored] me off.The transmission is new so I assume they changed the mount but its very possible they didnt. I also just replaced both u joints so I dont think its that. Also there is a large vibration where the transmission hump is ,so much I could feel it with my right foot while driving. Any ideas???? Thanks
By the way its a 71 Skylark
Guest
My Riviera does the same thing and my 70 El Camino did it too. I always figured it was the exhaust pipes hitting the floor board since i had custom exhaust on both.
You might want to check the motor mounts. An easy way to check is to open the hood and put the car in gear. With your foot on the brake rev the engine in forward and reverse to see if the engine moves around. If it does you have a broken mount.
