I am rewiring my Desoto and am unsure of the locations of these parts and what they look like:Neutral safety switchback up switchstop light switchI appreciate any additional info I can get.Thanks for the help. ply33 Posted September 19, 2012 Share Posted September 19, 2012 What year DeSoto?I'm pretty sure that the '63 Plymouth I learned to drive on did NOT have a neutral safety switch so I'd be surprised if any DeSoto had one. Not sure, but I think the back up light was an option for most Chrysler products in the era when they stopped making DeSotos, so it might not have one of those either.Pretty sure they all had stop light switches though. On the '20s through early '50s at least, Chrysler typically used a hydraulic switch that could be any where on the brake plumbing so I can't really point to an area to look at.Anyway, post the year information and I bet someone on this forum will be able to help more. Guest Commodore Posted September 20, 2012 Share Posted September 20, 2012 1953 DeSoto's used hydraulic brake light switch. Typically the brake light switch was mounted on the master cylinder.
