Guest 67plymouth Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 can someone identify these hubcaps? obviously they are not volkswagen as the guy at the garage sale where i bought them at tried to convince me of. must be some name that has a double V in it. also note differences (over time?) between the two. all silver one, V bottoms intersect bottom circle, first V intersects second V in bottom third, top circle ends on left arm of second V, three horizontal bars each side of circle. red painted one, V bottoms do not intersect bottom circle, first V intersects second V in center, Top circle crosses left arm of second V, no horizontal bars. any help would be appreciated. i have an extensive library but can't find such a make anywhere in the world. maybe South American? Russian?MartyVV.pdf
Guest 67plymouth Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 replying to my own post, after reading some stuff on the forum. it never occurred to me to turn the hubcap the other way. is it MM? Marmon?
michel88 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 It could be "Willys" like the hubcaps found on the Jeepster.
Guest 67plymouth Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 you are both absolutely right. boy, do i feel like a dummy. willys never occurred to me. after michel88 reply, i googled willys, found that the silver one is 1937 willys model 37 found hereWillys Overland Knight Registry - Photo Detailand also 1940 found here on the AACA websitedidn't find the slightly different red painted one, but nevertheless, Willys, no doubt. thanks for the help. great site. i'm glad i joined, i'll be here often.

Guest 67plymouth Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Hi 67plymouth,I am working on a 37 Willys rebuild and have been looking for 3 of the silver hubcaps for a while. Are you selling this one by any chance? Do you have any more than the one pictured? Thanks JulianJulians, if you don't find what you need at obselete's website, let me know. i only have the one silver one, and the red painted one. bought them at a garage sale for a dollar each and hung them on my garage wall for decoration. If you want it, i will give it to you at no charge, but shipping to Australia from the US would be expensive. If it is still worth it to you, i will ship it to you for the cost of shipping. Let me know.67plymouth
Guest Julians Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 67plymouth, that would be fantastic and very generous of you, thank you very much. I would love the silver one please. I had a brief look on Obsolete's website but the one that I am after did not jump out at me. I will continue the search for the other two that I need.I will message you with address details etc.thanks again.
Guest 67plymouth Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I mailed Julian the hubcap on Saturday. Wow, half way around the world. Never figured the outcome for buying an old hubcap at a garage sale would be like this. Cool......
Guest Foggy norm Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Imagine what may have happened if it were a grill....kidding. Thank's for the up-date.
Guest Julians Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 The hubcap is safely in Perth and I'm restoring it, ready for its trip to Africa to meet its new wheel! Thanks again 67plymouth<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
