Guest bigjer42
I just rebuilt a57 olds 371 eng., it has good oil press., but very little oil to the rockers. all oil passages where all cleaned. engine was primed and had 50 lbs. press. The old cam was wiped out. Is there a problem with the oiling sys. on these motors, as i have heard about?
Joseph P. Indusi
As I recall, they had a problem for a short time with a bad batch of metal for making the camshafts for the 57 Olds engines. I had one back in the day and when it warmed up the lifters made a distinct clicking noise. My solution was to go to a heavier weight oil even though the car did not have a lot of miles on it. There will likely be others on this forum who can advise you on the oil feed to the lifters.Joe, BCA 33493
