Guest tuckyman
I had to have the rear window replaced on my 55 and the glass installer says he don't know how to get the chrome back on. The rubber is slotted for the chrome. Is there a special tool or technique to installing the chrome? Any input appreciated
jpage
Who removed the chrome and do they remember how they got if off? Did you reuse the original window gasket or did the installer use something after market? You have to watch some of these modern glass shops as they just rip and tear without knowing what to expect, many times ruining good original parts! bigaadams
patience..lots of lube now that the seal is in thecar..and then you may still end up failing.....some Plymouths of the 50's you installed the glass and seal with the the upper trim alredy in place on the seal before install..your installer should have know this...after the glass and seal is in the lower and or corner trims goes on..these usually are bolted with between 5 and 7 studs..Steele website has a download sheet on glass install that may be of help to you..an not sure if it is model specific..I do not have a 55 manual but all the molding is address for the rear glass in the body section of my 54 and back book...source the repair manual for more info..once should not work on any section or assembly of the car without first reading the book..
