1957 Buick Parts for sale

Just been inTempe AZ cleaning up, have my Model 63 almost ready for the road, and control over the inventory for my Model 66R project.

Here are some parts for sale (compare with EBay if you like). This are good parts, all located in Tempe AZ. The parts comes from two parts cars I had (still have the oddball Buick).

Will concider a "good price" if you buy several parts, combined shipping also might make it a little bit cheaper. Will post the parts on EBay later if no interest.

2 x Instrument cluster complete (1 century/Special and 1 Roadmaster/Super) $75 each + shipping and handling $25

1 x pair of 1957/58 Finned Aluminum Drums Complete with backplate and everything. 1 Fin has a small cut of the end. Possible to repair. example J & G Drum Relining in McHenry, IL install new cast iron liners and fix broken fins too. $150 for the pair. Price for shipping unknown - on request.

TOPPER, thanks for posting an interesting shopping list. Arizona's a long way from the south west coast of Norway - getting out to the shop must be a real hassle.

I'm planning to upgrade to aluminum brake drums. I take it yours need the inserts replaced. I'll call J&G to ask about the cost of that. I'm not concerned about the appearance of a couple of broken fins, which wouldn't effect performance, but they might need fixing to be able to balance the wheels. Will let you know what I hear about repair costs before making an offer on your drums.

Hi Rob!

Yes it is long way to go for some couple of days work, but be sure I am in the shop from early morning to late evening enjoying in the best Buick environment US can show. 3 other 57`s and about 5-6 58` (4 limited to convertibles and 2 coupe`s). A lot of inspiration around. I try to get over here at last a couple of times a year, combined with my job. I just wait and see what you come up with. I know there is some old guys out there who know`s how to put a new liner on this brakes (maybe someone in your neighbourhood). That might be cheaper then letting J&G do it. I`l ask my friend Art, what his guy takes if you like! Then it could be done here before shipping, and you save that cost.

Hi!

Buick came with this brakes for the 1958 Models, but they already came on some late 57 Roadmasters (Maybe Super as well - who knows), even my "oddball" Buick Century had theme. Some thinks it was because the car was order with the 3 speed Synchromesh and no PB. The car was used for hauling, had a original Draw-Tite hitch, and you could tell on it had been doing some hauling in it`s life. I do not know if they fit a 54,55 or 56 without a lot of modifying, I can tell you they will not even fit a 57 without the complete backing plates. And yes -they will need relining - with brakes we should not TAKE ANY risk. Paypal is OK!

Yeh I think I a saw a similiar price estimate on the H.A.M.B, so what did you do, get it fixed local or done by J&G? By the way -what a stunning job you do on your 58, hat of and high five........... We need more people of your caliber in the Buick community! Again what a great job!

This morning, I talked to J & G Drum Relining in McHenry, IL (815) 276-2578: for Buick’s 45-fin aluminum brake drums, they estimate $265 each (just like Adam says) for new cast iron linings, including new wheel bearings, plus about $90 for repairing one or two missing fins. That’s $610, plus $150 purchase for the used drums = $760. Add who knows how much for shipping from Tempe to McHenry to Edmonton. With new brake shoes, the total would probably run at least $1200. Putting that into perspective, however, I recently spent $600 replacing just the rear rotors on my BMW station wagon. It stopped exactly as efficiently the day after the work as it had the day before.

Still, this is just too rich for me at this point in my Roadmaster’s rehabilitation. The car currently has brakes which have been known to stop it. My immediate challenge is to make it go. If I find in a couple of years that I’m driving my Buick all over the countryside and am concerned about braking performance, then I will consider this upgrade.

I have to check, it will be for a Century/Special, don`t know if their the same. I also know there is a differense i the model year. Late models have other armrest then the earliest models. I am no specialist on Roadmaster so please check and give a PM!

Century, Super, and Roadmaster armrests (except 75) should be the same for 57. Should be just over 24" long. I tried to PM you and it said you could not receive PMs?? If you have them (or one) you can let me know at lancemb48@hotmail.com. Thanks! Lance
