1930scott Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) hi does any one know if you can get headers or extractors for a 1957 buick 364 motor? or standard manifoldsplease email mebarkwood@iinet.net.au Edited September 14, 2012 by 1930scott (see edit history)
Guest Rob McDonald Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Please clarify - are you looking for performance-enhancing tubular steel headers or for original cast iron exhaust manifolds?
1939_Buick Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 (edited) As 1930scott is is Australia, the chance of being able to purchase in Aust is small. Australian Buick clubs may a local source. Shipping cost USA to Aust would be very high.A local exhaust shop should be able to fabricate Edited September 2, 2012 by 1939_buick (see edit history)
Guest Rob McDonald Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 C'mon guys, help a mate out here.Scott has advertised widely in Australia for these lumps, with no luck. He has access to affordable shipping through Los Angeles, so don't assume that he can't afford to have them sent over. Please go have a look in your back forty for a dual exhaust '57 Buick parts car, any model, and pull the manifolds.Condition of the heat riser mechanism is not important to Scott, who lives somewhere on the fringe of the Great Sandy (and hot) Desert.
Ben Bruce aka First Born Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Rob, I think it is great that you are going to bat for him,but is he even still in the game? He has failed to answer your question from 1st day. Ben
Guest Rob McDonald Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 BEN, we've been chatting by email, out of the loop here. Scott prefers to stick with cast iron exhaust manifolds but is prepared to use tubular headers if they're available or even to have them made up locally, if he has to. Getting original used parts is by far his best option.
1930scott Posted September 9, 2012 Author Posted September 9, 2012 (edited) hi guys i am still here waiting, been using emails to rob mcdonald, manifold would be the best bet to keep it original.scottaustralia Edited September 9, 2012 by 1930scott photo added (see edit history)
1930scott Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 wheatbelt buick have helped out with a r/h side manifold does any one have a spare left side to suit duals.
lancemb Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 One option to consider (I did this on one of my 57s) is to use the left manifold from a car with single exhaust (since they are far more plentiful). The only difference is a very short extra length of pipe coming off of the dual-exhaust version left manifold, so you can have your exhaust shop fabricate a small pipe to connect. This way you are 98% original with much less stress and potentially less cost.
1930scott Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 thanks for that ,i would have thought they would have been harder to get,so may be thats the option i will have to use.is there any of these out there anyonescott
