Guest my3buicks
Drove the Reatta all weekend, just totally enjoyed it - well until today that is, just about a 1/2 mile from home I felt something give way in the front drivers suspension and then odd handling and rubbing. It got me home at least. This is what I found let loose.
Barney Eaton
Cannot tell from the picture but it looks like a engine cradle (rust thru) failure. Engine cradles are 2 piece units and are interchangable with Rivieras of the same years. Not a big problem but eill take some work. You may find you also need cradle mount bolts and maybe bushings. Guest my3buicks
looking at the service manual I am thinking it is the control arm assembly ??
NCReatta
Yup, looks like your control arm broke. I see it happen a lot with northern cars. I have a bunch of good rust-free ones for sale if you need one.
padgett
Control arm is lots easier than a cradle. Good time for wire brush & rustolium while off.
handmedownreatta
i would replace both sides and look around good under there.
Guest my3buicks
The other side has already been checked out along with the entire underside - overall the underside is very clean.
