handmedownreatta Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 both my spare headlight switches work well except really having to nail the off button to turn off the park lights.i searched but gave up after six pages.is this just a need to grease something or more complicated?
Guest Mc_Reatta Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 It is due to wear of a nylon actuator and guide posts that have a little too much slop to get enough pressure on the sliding contacts to get them to slide to the off position. Can be patched with a piece of light cardboard and some creativity.
handmedownreatta Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 since good wiper switches are easy to find can you use wiper switch parts to repair headlight switches?
Guest Kingsley Posted August 25, 2012 Posted August 25, 2012 Jim Finn - jinn@cpinternet.com has an excellent program in which he will take in your failing headlight switch and sell you a switch which he has repaired and will be in top working order. The price is amazingly light on your pocketbook and his switches are good.KingsleyReatta Specialty Parts, LLC - Home
DAVES89 Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Kingsley and all, Not to start a feud it is "reconditioned" not "repaired"...
Guest Kingsley Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Dave - my error, you are entirely correct. The switches have been completely reconditioned by Jim and are very reliable. The last time I checked with him he had a large number of switches on hand for for all model years for puchase or through his exchange program.Kingsley'89, '90 CoupesReatta Specialty Parts, LLC - Home
