1. A pencil disappeared into the Reatta Center Console. It entered as shown in picture one where I placed a screwdriver to illustrate where it got in.

2. To get it out , I removed the Center Console Storage Box Interior ( picture two ).

see step one of : Center Console Removal Instructions - Reatta Owners Journal

for directions.

3. And the treasures I found are shown in picture three.

Two pencils, Credit Card, Library Card, Pearl Harbor Survivor Sticker, ATM receipt, two bank withdrawal slips, "TO BUY" list, auto wash slip, WI Lottery betting slip, a Quarter, a penny, and a paper clip.

I Hope You Have Better Luck on Your Treasure Hunt !

$. Picture four is a view of the interior of the console. Note the three coin holders at the top of the picture. (picture is turned 90 degrees clockwise)

I did the treasure hunt a couple years ago on a car I had shipped from Pennsylvania. I needed to replace the ECC unit and when removing the IP bezel, I dropped two screws down that-a-way. Besides the expected pen, paper clips, a rubber band, a hair bonnet/ribbon and various business cards, also found three $20.00 bills (folded up as one bill in a triangle) and two condoms still in their packet (ribbed,...for her pleasure).

...and I did find the screws.

I think Ervin gets the jackpot with his $20 bills!

I've found various things including name badges for the previous owner, business cards, combs, pens, parking passes, appointment cards, and a set of contacts.

Picking up another car next week.. More treasures await!

Ervin,

Ha! I found 2 Trojans (and I don't mean some guys with a big horse on wheels) in the trunk of my 91 shortly after purchase, when I took out the carpet and pad to do a full vacuum and replace the rear speakers. And, they weren't even expired. Kind of made me uneasy, but with the Reatta having no back seat I figured they weren't for use in the car. Also found an old BP gas charge card, some loose change, paper clips and an old auto insurance card. I'd forgotten about it until you posted about your findings.

I bought a 1989 Olds a couple years ago. The back seat didn't fit quite right. I took it apart and found the concert tickets they must have been looking for.

We bought a couch and chair from our next door neighbors back in late 80's. They bought it at an auction at the house we live in (we moved in in 1984). Found a lot of 40's era coins and other stuff from that era. When we looked underneath we saw they had the labels for shipping stapled to the bottom.... to my house with a different address. In the 1960's our city(Stoughton, WI) reversed the even and odd street numbering. Our address changed from 911 to 916.

I always hide stuff in the walls when I work on my house. Newspapers and pop culture stuff.

Where there's a will there's a way. I had a '78 Subaru Brat back in '78. Got the T-Shirt too.

Aw, that's not what I want to hear! With that mental image, I'm glad I put new carpet in shortly after I purchased it. Maybe I should deep clean the seats again too. Sheesh.

Another buried treasure of sorts that I was surprised to find when I tore apart the interior of the 91 were the number of quality assurance stickers. These were on almost every interior trim panel (door panels, upper and lower rear quarters, ski door) that I took out at the time. Was interesting to see the number of steps in production and how each one was signed off by a station inspector. And these were employees of the subcontractor that manufactured the interior trim components, not Craft Centre people. It seems there was a lot of hand-crafting of these interior pieces as well. I suppose because of the low production numbers there wasn't the need to do heavily automated high-production of these pieces. This also probably explains why they were done in molded press board rather than injection molded plastic; to produce these items in molded ABS plastic would have been much more costly.
