Guest Kingoftheroad
If the 65 is like the 64, there are 2 big plugs coming through the fire wall down behind the washer fluid bottle. The horn connection comes through the lower plug, check the connections in there. I had problems with my horn and it was a bad connection in that lower plug. RivNut
The clicking sound is coming from the horn relay. First of all, use some jumper wires and see if the horns work directly off the battery. That way you'll know the horns are good. The horn wires go along the front of the radiator core support and work their way to the horn relay, and to the horn button. Get a test light, ground it with the alligator clip and use the probe to touch each section of the wire where there's a junction. Have someone depress the horn button and watch for the test light to light, working from the steering wheel to the horns. Somewhere along the way, you'll lose your light. The open part of the circle will be some where behind that point.

Guest 65purps
Ok check horn directly works, checked connection good now I'm going to check the wires see what I can find. Should I replace the rely or is it still good that it clicks.. Thanks
1965rivgs
If your horn relay is clicking when you depress the horn bar this indicates the wiring between the relay and the steering wheel is OK, no need to check the wiring inside the interior. Check to see if you are getting a 12 volt signal at the connection to the horn itself. If not, problem could be the relay (just because it is clicking does not mean the contact points are transferring current) or the wiring between the relay and horns. If you are getting voltage at the horn your problem is the horn itself or a bad ground. If the horn is mounted well the ground should be OK but unbolt and rebolt the horn checking for good, clean ground. Have a friend depress the horn bar and give the horns a good whack with a rubber mallet. Often the diaphram in the horns locks up from non-use and smacking the horn while applying voltage will free it up. It may take a few taps and you may need to blow the horns a few times but this often works. Good luck, Tom Mooney
Guest 65purps
I think my relay is bad horn work perfect with direct wire from batt to horns. When we push on steering wheel no power reaches horns tried multimeter and light meter no current reache horns. Any idea on where to find a relay for a 65 Rivi Edited August 23, 2012 by 65purps (see edit history)
1965rivgs
Check the output terminal at the relay to eliminate a wiring problem between the relay and horns. If possible, remove the cover of the relay and attempt to clean up the contact points. If the relay is clicking that is a good sign the coil is good and there is a mechanical problem with the contact points. NOS junction blocks/relays surface from time to time but I suspect this part is shared with some `60`s mid size muscle cars as they seem to sell for big money. Check around for reproductions, like OPG, etc..Good luck, Tom Mooney

toomuchvinyl
I just bought one of these for my '64 - 58 59 60 61 62 63 64 65 66 67 Olds Oldsmobile Horn Relay NEW | eBayThe Buick Master Parts Catalog I have lists the GM part number as 391924 and that number is referenced in this seller's ad. There is another part number referenced for '65 and that's 1377933. If yours doesn't look like the one this guy has maybe that would at least give you something else to search on. Guest 65purps
Hey toomuchvinyl how does that relay from eBay work. Any issues
toomuchvinyl
I haven't gotten it yet. Seeing your post reminded me about how I've wanted to replace my own relay or at least have a replacement on hand before it does go. It just shipped yesterday so I'll let you know once I get it installed.
toomuchvinyl
Got the replacement relay. As you can see in the pic's, the replacement is larger than my original but it still fits with no issues. I hooked it up and started the car and gave a couple of honks on the 4-notes. Everything seems to be fine
