Yikes, I'll have to pull one to take pics and measure but will see what I can do. An Olds tranny is about the same but I am thinking the u joints are different spline so will need to consider that too. Thanks John

1956 is one year only spline between trans and driveshaft(seemed like a good idea at the time?) changed back to coarse spline, as folks were stripping fine splines off as too much torque from nailheads to hold up to repeated quick releases from clutch to tranny.

OK so if I have a 56 three 3 speed then I will need a 53-55 universal behind it to mate to a 54 drive shaft?
