Guest robsterk
Hello I am wondering if anyone may know what the d4 dual mag may have been used on?
Ivan Saxton
" Dual" indicates that it will function either with a trembler coil for starting, or as a conventional high voltage magneto for normal running. This is as distinct from a "Twin spark", with a double distributer block and leads to two sets of leads to two plugs per cylinder. The D series, as distinct from the contemporary DU, are a bigger magneto with a greater height of the shaft above the mounting base. I had a normal D4, which I gave to Ray Whyte for his big 1907 shaft drive T head Mercedes. You will know the year from the serial number, which were consecutive for Bosch for all models, and the lists are about. Then it will be for a big car.
