Guest skawars1
Hey All,A buddy an I am looking at what we think is 1929 4dr to restore. It's a sure cool car. Runs rough, little rust, bad interior. The seller thinks it's a 29. Not knowing allot about these types of cars are there certain things we should be looking at and what would be a good offer? Thanks
60ch
You will want to check how the doors are lining up, and how secure the windshield is attached to the body. The 4 dr sedans were custom bodies made by Murray or Briggs. They are all wood framed with the sheet metal nailed and screwed to the wood frame. This can be a real problem if you need to replace it. Getting the doors to line up and the hood to fit up correctly is a challenge. If you are an avid woodworker you will have your work cut out for you but to pay for wood and have it installed is very expensive. I went through this with my first Model A. It is a 1930 Murray 4 dr town sedan. They are beautiful cars. Get prices for door wood and body wood before you buy. If you do take the project on, Make sure that your frame is straight before you start the wood work. Good luck and choose wisely, Terry
