Tom_S
Hello,My 36 Buick model 41 does not have the front shock absorber bumper pads, however a friends 36 model 46 has them. The Buick master parts list notes them for Series 40 cars as part number 1266676. I am referring to the small knob type pad on top where mine has a cover bolted on, not the large lower pad. Would anyone know why my model 41 would not have them and would anyone recommend putting them on my car or leave well enough alone? See photos for comparison of the 2 models. Thanks,Tom Edited August 13, 2012 by Tom_S clarification (see edit history)
Seldenguy
Tom-- It appears to me that the the plate you show(on top) is the plate that WAS moulded inside of the original rubber. Is there a nut under the frame arm?, if so remove the plate and put on a new rubber bumper. I believe the originals were deteriorated and long gone--Good luck, --Bob

Tom_S
Ben and Bob,After sleeping on things last night I came to the same conclusion that what is left is the metal bottom of the original rubber bumpers. Kind of unusual that both sides are identically missing any trace of rubber. Yes, they are bolted on. My Grandfather bought the car new and the old Pittsburgh streets must have been rough on it. HA!Thanks,Tom
