1909schacht Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Hello again, this has me stumpted...looks like a ford speedo but does not have a odometer, in fact it looks to be electric !any one have an idea as to what it's off of & is it a speedo or tach ?
keiser31 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Maybe one that goes in the rear passenger compartment for one of them high falutin' cars....no need for an odometer back there in the back seat.
Guest prs519 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 or low-falutin gauge for those whose gas mileage was always a matter of faith rather than physical reality.
Grandpa Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Perhaps the speedometer is from a 1940s vintage interurban rail car or a similar vintage diesel locomotive. That may explain the painted bezel, the electrical signal drive, the lack of illumination lights, and the lack of an odometer.Grandpa
1909schacht Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 well it does have a an ilumination panel next to the empty light bulb holder on the side & sorry for the poor quailty photo but the bezel looks to be chromedStill a mistery, the indacator arrow still looks to be Ford to me. am I wrong ?
Guest prs519 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Would this perhaps have been used on a taxi? Maybe there were other provisions that kept track of running miles andtime and etc.?, so would not have been necessary to put odometer on speedometer.
1909schacht Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 Could this be from a ford tri power airplane ?
