Ronnie
You should check for codes in the computer. That will help with tracking down the problem. How To Access ECM, BCM & CRT Codes - Reatta Owners Journal
KDirk
Which warning light are you getting? There are the following on the 89:Service engine soonABS/anti-lockBrakeElectrical ProblemBattery lampOil lampMost of these when illuminated also trigger a corresponding warning message on the CRT screen. It would be helpful to know what, if any, messages you are getting on there as well. Then we might be able to make so suggestions on troubleshooting. Of course, as Ronnie has suggested, the codes should be pulled through on board diagnostics as well and posted here. KDirk

KDirk
Ok, is the orange "Electrical Problem" light on the instrument cluster on also? Most likely it is. First thing to check is to make sure the cover is installed in the diagnostic ("ALDL") port under the dash on the driver side. This is a rectangular connector with two rows of pins used mostly for connection of scan tools and diagnostic equipment. There is a cover that should be on it at all times when not being used for connection of a scan tool. The cover has shorting pins in it that complete the vehicle data network loop. If the cover is removed (or missing altogether), and there are other "breaks" in the loop then communication to some modules will be lost causing a electrical problem notification. If this is not the issue (if the cover is in place) we will need the error codes to go any further in diagnosing. Please go to the link Ronnie provided above to get into diagnostics and write down all the error codes it shows on the CRT then post back here with the list of codes.
