Pinion angle for good launch w/heavy car?

I am replacing the one-legged rearend in my 1970 Riv with a posi unit from a GS Riv. There is a plate welded to the top of the rearend that mates with a plate on the frame and is used to adjust the pinion angle. My Riv was originally set up with the pinion angle at maximum adjustment to set the front of the differential below level. Is this correct? How can I determine best pinion angle for launching a heavy car? Thanks!
