RSayak
Currently my '38 Dodge RE31 1.5Ton truck has an unknown origin exhaust on it. It has a steel flex pipe from the manifold to the exhaust pipe, which is solid mounted under the right frame rail. It runs straight back to a muffler right behind the cab then ends. I'm not sure if this is the way it was originally. The only details from the service manual is the lubrication chart shows that it runs under the frame rail in the portion under the cab. The book has no details of what's supposed to be connected to the manifold. I don't have a parts book that covers this truck, but I doubt it would have illustrations showing this anyhow. The 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks show the exhaust running between the transmission and the frame, and that would be likely with a rigid head pipe and rubber mounts for the exhaust. This is what we are looking to do on this truck, for lack of knowing what's supposed to be there. The rigid mounting looks like its the cause of all the current exhaust leaks. What do you guys think?
