Guest cheesehead2
Need some help here. I,m looking at a 31 Ford . The head has a small what looks like a crack in it. What might have been the reason for it. The owner says its looked like that for as long as he,s owned it. It seem to run fine. Any thoughts? MCHinson
A photo would be helpful, but if it is running OK, it sounds like it is not a problem. Replacement heads for Model A Fords are available and fairly reasonably priced.
Coley
If the "crack" is located on the coolant ridge down the top of the head, it could be a freeze caused crack. If the engine was sealed with waterglass, it would leak if modern antifreeze was installed.Or, it might just be a casting flaw that looks like a crack, but isn't.
