Mystery part

Tired of looking at this on my bench, it came in a box with other parts for my 29 Durant. This sheave looking thing has a tapered and keyed bore. It seperates in two with wood sandwiched between fastened by 8 machine screws, approx. 3 inches ib dia. any ideas???? Thanks:confused:

Hub for a wood spoked steering wheel?

That's the first answer everybody who sees it gives but then changes their mind, I have never seen a wood spoked steering wheel.

My 27 Studebaker Dictator has a wood spoke steering wheel, but the hub is not like that.
