Guest mando13
I had posted a query yesterday but don't know if I posted it in the right area so will try the Ford section and see what happens. On my 52 ford 6 cyl,6volt system, the signal lites are pretty dim, especially in the day time. They do blink but are hard to see.I don't want to convert my car to a 12v system, want to keep it all origional.I have replaced the bulbs and the Flasher too but made no difference. Is there anything that I can do to correct this or is it just the way it is.In the daytime I don't take any chances when turning so i put my hand out like in the old days but if I can get those signal lights to be more visable in the day,it would be better for me.I would apreciate any advice or ideas on this problem. Thanks to all for your replys.MandoPS- Is this the right place to post a question like this or do I have to post it on another section of the Forum? I don't mind being corrected at all.Need to find myself around this site.
19tom40
Corrosion in this area can cause the bulbs to not get a good connection to ground. If you have a voltmeter, you can check the grounding connection by connecting your voltmeter between the lamp holder and the ground strap on the battery. With the parking lights on, use the lowest scale on the meter. any reading above 1/2 volt is too highThe 6 volt bulbs for your lights is the 1154. Here is a link to a vendor that has brighter bulbshttp://www.vintageford.com/part_search.cfm?line=V-8&PartEntry=06142-6SB&Category= The Early Ford V-8 Club of America has a Forum that is more actve than this one. You will probably get faster answers there.https://www.earlyfordv8.org/forum/index.cfm
Guest mando13
Thanks for your help with this issue. I am going to work on it this weekend and hopefully will find the problem. It does look like eighter a bad connection on the wiring or a bad ground. Will also check out the website that you mention and the Early Ford Forum.Mando
