Guest Posted May 6, 2001 Share Posted May 6, 2001 How do you tell the difference between a 12 bolt chevrolet passenger posi, a 12 bolt truck posi and a 10 bolt posi? What are the corresponding codes stamped on the carriers for the 2-series, 3-series, and 4-series carriers? Guest Posted May 13, 2001 Share Posted May 13, 2001 12 bolt chevy rear also has 12 bolts holding the ring gear on it. This gear should measure<BR>8.75 across. also count the number of splines on your axle this should match the<BR>internal splines on the carier. One quick but not perfect way to take an educated guess<BR>truck possie units are often clutch style with a small spring loded gear and pawl. while car possie units are either cone units or auburn style spring presure units.
